Annapurna Rapid Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal which takes you to the foothills of the gorgeous Annapurna massif for a stunning sunrise view from the famous vantage point, Poon Hill while providing an amazing cultural experience as you traverse through the various Gurung and Magar villages en route. This short and easy trek is ideal for experienced as well as novice trekkers as the trails are paved with flag-stone steps amid and are well maintained.
The Annapurna Rapid Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu, after which you fly to Pokhara and then drive to Nayapul. The trek features a stopover in the beautiful village of Ghorepani, which is home to the largest rhododendron forest in the Annapurna region. During the spring season, the forest lights up with mesmerizing colors of the rhododendron blooms, filling up the forest in patches of red, white, and pink. This trek provides you the wonderful opportunity to witness the most spectacular sunrise from Poon Hill, where the first rays of the sun envelope the snowy peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs along with Machhapuchhre (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and others in enchanting colors. A short visit to the picturesque village of Ghandruk, the largest Gurung village in the Annapurna region, gives you a glimpse of the Gurung way of life and also a picture-perfect view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Machhapuchhre (6993m). The trek moves along other beautiful Magar and Gurung villages allowing you to get a glimpse of their culture and lifestyle. Also, the scenic landscapes seen throughout the trek is bound to fill your heart with awe. Itinerary(Details)
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to Kathmandu. You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel. Feel free to explore the markets near you. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Flight from Kathmandu (25 minutes) to Pokhara and then drive to Nayapul (1 hour) and trek to Ulleri (1,950m) (3-4 hours)
We take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara enjoying the beautiful views of the high hills and the Himalayas. On reaching Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul through winding roads next to fast flowing rivers and then start the trek to Ulleri. We ascend on a steep slope through lush green forests of rhododendron to reach the Magar village of Ulleri. Overnight in Ulleri.
Day 03: Trek to Ghorepani (2,850m): 5-6 hrs.
A steep uphill climb takes us to Banthanti from where we follow the upstream trails of Bhurungdi River until reaching Ghorepani. The trail is filled with innumerous rhododendron trees, which cover the forest in colors during the spring season. Ascending on the flagstone steps and passing several small villages, we reach the Gurung village of Ghorepani. A stunning panorama of the Annapurna massif, Machhapuchhre (6993m), and Hiunchuli (6441m) awaits us in Ghorepani. Overnight in Ghorepani.
Day 04: Hike Poon Hill (3210m), and trek to Tadapani (2,520m): 6-7 hrs.
Early in the morning, we hike to Poon Hill to witness the most beautiful sunrise ever. This 45-minute hike on a series of flag-stone steps goes through the lush forest of the beautiful rhododendrons. When the morning light falls on the snow-capped mountains, it produces an enchanting mix of colors that is bound to leave us awe-struck. Several peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs along with Machhapuchhre (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Nilgiri (7061m) can be seen from the top of Poon Hill. Later, we hike back to Ghorepani and continue to descend through the forest to reach Tadapani. Overnight in Tadapani.
Day 05: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara (910m): 5-6 hours trek & 1 hrs. 30 min drive
Leaving Tadapani, we make a steep descent to reach the Gurung village of Ghandruk. After a short rest in Ghandruk, relishing the view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Machhapuchhre (6993m), we trek downhill through the flag-stone steps placed carefully on the cliff to reach Nayapul via Birethanti. From Nayapul, we drive back to Pokhara for the overnight stay.
Day 06: Drive to Kathmandu
Today we drive back to Kathmandu via the Prithvi Highway, winding above the fast flowing rivers, Marsayangdi and Trishuli. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. You can take a rest or visit the nearby markets as per your choice. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 07: Final departure
Our staff will escort you to the airport to connect you with your scheduled flight back home.
